The Brief
When lockdowns pushed the television industry's presentations online, Fremantle found that Zoom and Google Meet fell short on high-quality video broadcasting, forcing presenters into suboptimal screen sharing. Alongside our partner agency Amplify, we set out to fix that.
We engineered a bespoke micro-platform integrating the Zoom Web SDK with the Brightcove API, pairing Zoom's familiar interface with Brightcove's broadcast-strength video delivery. The tool handles secure invitation management and wraps everything in a branded, interactive experience combining video chat with superior video delivery. Custom websocket functionality lets presenters control content and playback in real time for every viewer, keeping presentations cohesive, while a comprehensive analytics suite surfaces audience engagement and platform performance.
The platform gave Fremantle, part of the RTL Group under Bertelsmann with over 495 million fans across 2,000 social channels and more than 300 billion annual views across platforms, a presentation tool that finally matched the quality of its content.
Stitching best-of-breed services into one dependable product is precisely the kind of engineering Node practises daily on its managed platforms.
