The team

Node is run by a small team of highly experienced engineers, headed by industry veterans Chris Evans and Matt Collier. The team designed, built and now operates everything the platform runs on - the hardware in the datacentre, the identity system, the app estate, the AI gateway and the billing pipeline.

We think that is a feature, not a caveat. There is no account management layer, no support tiers and no ticket roulette here. When you email us, the person who answers is an engineer with root on the systems you are asking about, and usually the person who built the thing in question. Problems get fixed by the people who can fix them, first time.

It also means we keep the estate small enough to know completely. We run our own company on the same platform, the same tenants and the same hardware our customers get - here is exactly how - so if something is broken, it is usually broken for us first.

How we work

We answer our own support queue. There is no first line to get past. Questions go to the engineers, and the reply you get is the actual answer, not a holding pattern.

We run what we sell. Our files, CRM, e-signing, automation, email and helpdesk all run on the platform, behind the same single sign-on we give customers. Operating our own business on it is our first and harshest test environment.

We automate the routine and document the rest. A small team can run a platform properly only with discipline: everything repeatable is scripted, everything deployed is monitored, and every change is written down.

We say no when the honest answer is no. If an app is not ready for self-serve deployment, we call it managed setup. If a feature is not built yet, we say so. A small team cannot afford the debt that comes from overpromising.
